【摘要】:ThistestmethodisusefulforcharacterizationandrapidquantificationofPAHmixturesincludingpetroleumoils,fuels,creosotes,andindustrialorganicmixtures,eitherwaterborneorobtainedfromtanks.TheunknownPAHmixtureisfirstcharacterizedbyitsfluorescenceemissionandsynchronousscanningspectra.Thenasuitablesite-specificcalibrationstandardwithsimilarspectralcharacteristicsisselectedasdescribedinAnnexA1.Thiscalibrationstandardmayalsobewell-characterizedbyotherindependentmethodssuchasgaschromatography(GC),GC-massspectrometry(GC-MS),orhighperformanceliquidchromatography(HPLC).SomesuggestedindependentanalyticalmethodsareincludedinReferences(1x2013;7)3andTestMethodD4657.Otheranalyticalmethodscanbesubstitutedbyanexperiencedanalystdependingontheintendeddataqualityobjectives.Peakmaximaintensitiesofappropriatefluorescenceemissionspectraarethenusedtosetupsuitablecalibrationcurvesasafunctionofconcentration.FurtherdiscussionoffluorescencetechniquesasappliedtothecharacterizationandquantificationofPAHsandpetroleumoilscanbefoundinReferences(8x2013;18).Forthepurposeofthepresenttestmethodpolynucleararomatichydrocarbonsaredefinedtoincludesubstitutedpolycyclicaromatichydrocarbonswithfunctionalgroupssuchascarboxylacid,hydroxy,carbonylandaminogroups,andheterocyclesgivingsimilarfluorescenceresponsestoPAHsofsimilarmolecularweightranges.IfPAHsinthemoreclassicdefinition,thatis,unsubstitutedPAHs,aredesired,chemicalreactions,extractions,orchromatographicproceduresmayberequiredtoeliminatetheseothercomponents.Fortunately,forthemostcommonlyexpectedPAHmixtures,suchsubstitutedPAHsandheterocyclesarenotmajorcomponentsofthemixturesanddonotcauseseriouserrors.1.1Thistestmethodcoversameansforquantifyingorcharacterizingtotalpolycyclicaromatichydrocarbons(PAHs)byfluorescencespectroscopy(Fl)forwaterbornesamples.Thecharacterizationstepisforthepurposeoffindinganappropriatecalibrationstandardwithsimiliaremissionandsynchronousfluorescencespectra.1.2ThistestmethodisapplicabletoPAHsresultingfrompetroleumoils,fueloils,creosotes,orindustrialorganicmixtures.Samplescanbeweatheredorunweathered,buteitherthesamematerialorappropriatelycharacterizedsite-specificPAHorpetroleumoilcalibrationstandardswithsimilarfluorescencespectrashouldbechosen.Thedegreeofspectralsimilarityneededwilldependonthedesiredlevelofquantificationandontherequireddataqualityobjectives.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
